PM Awas Yojana 2024:
PM Awas Yojana 2024 (PMAY-G) was launched on 1 April 2016.The PM Awas Yojana 2024 scheme is run by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and its primary objective is to provide a safe and convenient pucca house to homeless families and people residing in dilapidated houses.PMAY-G is developed to address the housing shortage in rural areas, which plays a vital role in fulfilling the goal of "Housing for All".
The minimum size of houses under the PM Awas Yojana 2024 scheme has been fixed at 25 square meters, including a special area for clean cooking.Since 27 September 2022, 2.00 crore houses have been successfully {constructed| out of the target of 2.72 crore houses.Beneficiaries are identified based on the criteria of Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC).It is confirmed by the Gram Sabhas.This amount is sent directly to the bank account or post office account of the beneficiaries.PMAY-G has been extended for the next two years, i.e.till March 31, 2024.
PM Awas Yojana 2024: Objective
The primary objective of PM Awas Yojana (PMYG) is to provide pucca houses with standard amenities to all homeless families and families residing in kutcha or dilapidated houses in rural areas by 2024.Its primary target is to cover 1.00 crore families in rural areas in three years between 2016-17 to 2018-19, who are homeless or living in kutcha/dilapidated houses.Under the PM Awas Yojana 2024 scheme, quality houses will be {constructed| by the beneficiaries with the help of local materials, designs and trained masons.For the construction of houses, it is proposed to embrace a housing method through convergence.
PM Awas Yojana 2024: Benefits

PM Awas Yojana 2024: Eligibility
Beneficiaries under PM Awas Yojana 2024 include all homeless families living in no, one or two roomed houses with kutcha walls and kutcha roofs (based on SECC data, and subject to exclusion procedure).
Criteria for automatic/compulsory inclusion.
•1.Shelterless families.
•2.Destitute/dependent on alms.
•3.Manual scavengers.
•4.Primitive tribal groups.
•5.Lawfully released bonded labour.
PM Awas Yojana 2024: Prioritisation.
•Under Prioritisation, multi-level priority will be determined in the classification of PMAY-G beneficiaries.
•First of all, priority will be given on the basis of parameters of housing deprivation, that includes SC/ST, minorities and other groups.
•First of all, priority will be offered PM Awas Yojana to those families who are homeless, followed by priority according to the variety of rooms; Households with no, one and 2 rooms will get priority respectively.
•In a particular social category such as SC/ST, Minority and Others, families who are homeless or living in houses with fewer rooms will not be put below families living in houses with more rooms.
In the above priority groups, families who satisfy the criteria for "compulsory addition" will be given even more priority.Automatically included families will be given more weightage than other families within the priority group.
The scores will be calculated based on the socio-economic criteria provided below, each having equivalent weightage:.
•Households with no adult member in between 16 and 59 years.
•Female-headed households with no adult male member between 16 and 59 years.
•Households without any educated grownup above 25 years of age.
•Households with a disabled member and no able-bodied adult member Landless households that derive the majority of their income from manual labour will be ranked higher amongst households with high deprivation scores.
Fixation of targets.
For SC/ST: 60% of the target assigned to each State or Union Territory need to be set aside for SCs and STs, depending upon the schedule of eligible beneficiaries.Within the set targets, the percentage of SCs and STs will be determined by the respective States or Union Territories from time to time.
In addition, States and Union Territories will be allowed to exchange targets between SCs and STs, if there is no qualified beneficiary in any of these classifications and it is certified.If all eligible SC and ST households are covered, the State or Union Territory targets will be assigned to beneficiaries of 'other' classifications from the permanent waiting list prepared from SECC 2011.
For Minorities:.
In addition, as far as possible, 15% of the total fund will be earmarked for minority families at the nationwide level.The allowance of target for minorities among States and Union Territories will be made on the basis of in proportion rural population of minorities in the particular State or Union Territory as per Census 2011 data.Minorities notified under Section 2( c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992 will be considered qualified for the advantage of this earmarked amount.
For Divyaangjan:.
Under the PM Awas Yojana 2024 scheme, special priority in the choice of beneficiaries to be helped has been provided to families in which there is a disabled member and no able-bodied adult.Therefore, such families have been provided more deprivation points at the time of house allotment.According to the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995, States might attempt to ensure that 3% of the beneficiaries at the State level are from among the persons with disabilities.
If more than one household in a sub-group has the exact same deprivation score, those households will be prioritised based upon the following criteria:.
•Families with widows and near relative of members of the defence, paramilitary or police killed in action.
